Models share their feelings on getting back on the runway since the Covid lockdown.
It’s been over a year since the pandemic, we wonder the thoughts on resuming the fashion runaway experience.
Being understandably deprived from executing your passion ought to be a very difficult feeling, with over a year and some months since the Covid-19 lockdown in Nigeria and the recent exhibition of the Lagos Fashion Week 2021, some models tell us how they felt about being back on the runaway.
“It felt like I just started modeling all again, the only difference was I already had professional experience although the tension of castings to different stages was still there. The runaway vibe is always amazing, being watched and rushing to switch dresses to deliver a worthy experience, I missed all that” — Darchie
“Truthfully not as interesting as it were before the pandemic but hopefully now that fashion shows have kicked off, it will better. It’s a lot having to take covid test everyday and the movement being restricted to just backstages with so many rules but once you’re on that runway,it’s always a good feeling to know people are watching every detail on you so you just want to slay! Feels good not gonna lie” — Adeola Jesutofunmi
“It felt surreal to be honest, I missed being on the runaway, It felt amazing to be back doing castings and working with familiar faces I had not seen because of the pandemic, It was great” — Amaka Oguike
“Well for me during the casting I felt a bit nervous because I haven’t been to a casting in a long time but after the first phase of the casting I knew I still got it and i got a lot of energy from seeing model friends that I have the pleasure of working with. As for the runway it was thrilling and the backstage was filled with lots of excitement for me” — Mike Gloria
“It felt great, somewhat different with the COVID guidelines and all which was understandable but overall it was amazing” — Edna Ojeh
“It felt pretty amazing, I mean we couldn’t work during the pandemic then LFW came through this year with castings and the opportunity to see some of my friends to bond during castings. Also I was happy we were well taken care of as we were not a lot of models so we had room for a lot of things. We had new amazing designers that were very kind although fittings were stressful but I am used to that part and eventually walking on the runway was so amazing.” — Omolara Adetutu
